After a 16-day break from competition, the Benson Bobcats' softball team will get back into the swing of things this week.

The Lady Bobcats will be playing the big schools this week, taking on Seton Catholic on Thursday, and heading to Payson on Friday to compete in the Gracie Haught Classic.

The Lady Bobcats are currently 7-0 on the season, a nice surprise according to Coach Manny Alvarez.

Alvarez, who usually refers to the team with one or two words like "grrr" or "pain," said with young players taking the field in key positions this year, the ladies have held up to the pressure well.

On the baseball side of the diamond, the Benson Bobcats baseball team will finally be playing at home. To date, the Bobcats have only played in tournaments out of town.

On Saturday the Bobcats will host Desert Christian at 11 a.m., and then on Tuesday will host Bisbee in a 2A East Conference match. First pitch is at 4 p.m.

The Bobcats are currently 6-4 on the season.
