Through the direction of the Sierra Vista chapter, the International Kiwanis Club is looking to come to Benson.
James Courtright, director of club development, said not only is Benson a growing community, but Dr. David Woodall, superintendent of the Benson School District, has shown an interest in setting up a Benson chapter.
"Benson's location is also prime for the club needs," he said. "It will serve as a central location between clubs in Sierra Vista and Willcox and other areas in Cochise County."
To start a Benson chapter, Dave Perryman, of the Kiwanis Club of Sierra Vista, said 25 members would be needed. Members can be any adult 18 years or older, he said.
"We want any man, woman and their pets to join," he said. "We are excited about expanding into Benson."
Woodall said organizations like Kiwanis are a positive attribute to any community because they do focus on area youth.
Courtright said a popular program created by Kiwanis, is the Key Club, which has 5,000 participating high schools in the U.S.
Key Club is set up to provide students with leadership development, service-learning, vocational guidance, personal enrichment and college scholarships.
