Three more skunks test positive for rabies in Benson-St. David

The Cochise County Sheriff's Office animal control division is warning pet owners to secure their animals after three more rabid skunk-dog encounters were reported in the Benson, St. David area, bringing to six the number of reported incidents, said Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Carol Capas. The latest encounters have occurred over the last two weeks, she said.
Rabies vaccination clinics are ongoing. ARK Mobile Veterinary Services will be at Tombstone Small Animal Shelter Saturday, Feb. 25, (call 457-2545 for an appointment). ARK Mobile Veterinary Services will also be at 4001 E Foothills Drive in Sierra Vista on Feb. 26- 27, and vaccinations for dogs and cats are $15. (Call 520-730-3001 for appointment). All Creatures Veterinary Clinic will also be hosting a vaccination clinic at 655 E 4th St., Benson, March 7, 9 a.m. to noon. Cost is $20 for dogs and cats. Dogs must be on leashes and cats in cat carriers, no exceptions.
