Boy scout wants to improve gravesites as Eagle Scout project

A local Boy Scout has received permission from the Benson City Council to improve some gravesites at the High Street Cemetery.
The names of those graves being improved have been released, and city officials are asking for family members to contact them if there is a problem.
In a letter to the council, Manuel Santiago said he is currently working on his Eagle Project, and came up with the idea after driving around town with his mother.
"My mom and I were going through town to see what we can do," he said. "We came across the High Street Cemetery and noticed that many of the graves did not have any headstones. I would like to take this opportunity to do this project. To give these people a last resting place here on earth. I think this is the least we can give them, a name and a place to remember them and visit them."
Before posting the headstones, Santiago and the city are asking that anyone with concerns contact the city at 586-2245.

I lived in Benson many years ago. I was raised there until the age of 15. At that time, we picked up and moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico. I now have lived in Las Cruces for 26+ years.
My Dad passed away in the Benson Hospital when I was 3 years old. Since I was about 15-20 years old I have been wanting to get him a headstone for his grave. I just have never been able to afford to buy one. My Dad's grave hasnt had so much as a marker, let alone an actual headstone, for many, many years. I was wondering how Miguel and his Mother came up with the names chosen for this project? I am hoping Miguel and/or his Mother might see this comment, and get back to me.My e-mail address is: hirreb2@yahoo.com, my home phone is (575)524-3353, and my cell phone is (575)649-0187.
Thank you, Miguel and his Mom, in advance, for any information you may be able to provide.
