Zella Divine

Zella Divine of Benson, Ariz., died March 27, 2009. She was born in Whiteflat, Texas on Aug. 19, 1928. She was the last living child of Charlie and Mattie Pool, as she was preceded in death by her two brothers, Hubert and Johnnie, and her sister Wilma. Her only living relatives are two nephews, Milton Pool of Amarillo, Texas and Tim Morris of Salina, Kansas, and a niece, Betty Morris of Alvarado, Texas.
Zella is survived by her husband, Chuck Divine, of Benson, Ariz., and three children, Darrel and Margie Divine of San Diego, Calif., Tanya and Gary Stowe of Lancaster, Calif., and Dena and Morris Richardson of Tucson, Ariz.; also by four grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Out of the nine children of Charlie and Lydia Divine, Chuck has one surviving sister, Virginia and her husband, Rex Hogue, of Alamosa, Colo., one sister-in-law, Ethel Divine of Garberville, Calif., and a brother-in-law, Raymond Dutton of Colorado. There are also 21 nieces and nephews.
There will be a short memorial for Zella at the clubhouse in the park, where she and Chuck lived the last 19 years in Benson, Ariz., Saturday, April 4, 2009. Zella is being cremated and will be buried in the Alamosa Cemetery in Alamosa, Colo., sometime in June. Zella lived the last four months of her life at Quiburi Mission, just a mile from her home, where Chuck and her friends could visit her. She was a loving wife and mother and dedicated her life to her husband. She had many loving friends in the SKP Park, and Chuck is sure she will dance her way to heaven, where someday he will join her.
