The Benson/San Pedro Valley Chamber of Commerce is excited about the fourth annual Bluegrass in the Park festival coming up this weekend.

The event, held at Lions Park, has become popular over the last few years, and this year, with the addition of the Goldwing Express band, they are expecting an even bigger crowd.

Bob Mucci, executive director of the chamber, said he has spent a lot of time planning this year's celebration, and the addition of Goldwing Express says something about the caliber of talent the festival is attracting.

Well-known for their performances and concerts in one of the nation's country capitals in Branson, Mo., the band, comprised of three Native American brothers and their fathers, specialize in bluegrass, old-time country, southern-style gospel and humor on top of that.

Mucci said the chamber is excited about the Goldwing Express, which is set to take the stage at 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, closing out both days.

Entertainment starts on Friday around 10:45 a.m. with the opening ceremonies, followed by local entertainers the Bost Family Traditions at 11 a.m., and again at 2 p.m. The Hey Boyz, Plamer Divide, Trusting Heart and Dorian Wells will also open up the three-day event.

Mucci said judging by the response to the event so far, they are expecting thousands of guests, and a successful weekend in Benson. Through the sale of tickets online this year, Mucci said they have already sold $850 in tickets so far.

To buy tickets online go to www.bensonchamberaz.com, or www.bensonvicitorcenter.com.

A daylong pass for Fridays shows is $8. To attend either on Saturday or Sunday, cost is $12 per day. For a three-day pass, the cost is $25.

Children 6 and under are free, and children between the ages of seven and 16 get in for half price.

The Kiwanis Club of Benson is hosting a pancake breakfast in the park that Saturday, April 25, beginning at 7 a.m.

The $6 breakfast includes: all-you-can-eat-pancakes, one or two sausage patties, and bottomless coffee, juice, or water.

The Kiwanis Club of Benson is fundraising to provide programs in local schools and other activities for Benson-area youth. Donate $6 and Kiwanis members will provide a homeless person with that breakfast.
