Wick Communications is in no way affiliated with a Connecticut company calling local residents who have been featured in the newspaper for their accomplishments.

Linda Lou Lamb of Benson was recently featured in the San Pedro Valley News-Sun for being named a finalist for the Arizona Interscholastic Association's Everyday Heroes Coach of the Year award. Lamb will find out if she won on May 23.

After Lamb was featured earlier this month, she received a call from a company called That's Great News. The company's Web site says they can mount newspaper articles on plaques.

The company called Lamb, stating they found out about her recent honor through the Internet. Lamb asked how they got her cell phone number, and they said, from the school.

Lamb said the fact that they had her cell phone number and were asking for personal information bothered her.

After checking into the company, Wick publications throughout Southern Arizona said they have heard similar claims.

Editor and Publisher Jane Amari said while the company may be legitimate, it is important for residents to know that Wick Communications is in no way partnering with them and does not provide them with any personal information for the people featured.

The News-Sun tried to contact the company, but was sent to a voicemail. Bob Roscoe, who is listed as the owner of the company, called later that evening, stating they do not say they are partnering with anyone when they contact potential customers.

As for Lamb's cell phone number, Roscoe said he is "sure they must have gotten it somewhere," saying it may have come from the Internet.

Roscoe said all calls are recorded, and they are a legitimate business.
