Benson FCCLA team to compete in Nashville
Benson High School's FCCLA team recently placed among the top teams in the state during competitions in the Mesa/Scottsdale areas.
The team of Ryan Beel, Brittany Lohse, and Erica Norris received a bronze medal in Culinary Arts for meal preparation. In the Front of House competition (table preparation and serving) Nathan Walls received a silver medal, and Louis Gregory received bronze.
In a Recycle and Redesign competition, students were given a used fabric item, and had to design and sew to create a different item. For example, a swimsuit became a purse, and a tablecloth became a sundress, and a long denim skirt become a vest, mini skirt and clutch. Gold medals were awarded to Lucy Rupert and Desire' Hernandez, while Kendra Kelsey and Ashlee Shannon received silver.
