Tim Bee of Gov. Janet Brewer's office will be in Benson Thursday to update residents on the state of the 2009-2010 budget.

Bee is the first guest speaker for Benson San Pedro Valley Chamber of Commerce luncheon that will now be held quarterly.

Bob Mucci, executive director of the chamber, said he heard Bee speak at a Rotary Club event and invited him to speak for the chamber.

Bee, director of Brewer's Southern Arizona office, will discuss the state's struggle in passing a budge for the new fiscal year that begins July 1.

Passing a budget has become a controversial journey this year, with the governor recently filing a lawsuit against members of the state house and senate for not sending the budget approved by them to her office.

Brewer has threatened to veto the approved budget, therefore forcing state house and senate officials to stall.

The public is invited to the noon luncheon at the San Pedro Golf Course, 926 N. Madison St. Cost for lunch is $9.50, RSVP by calling Mucci at 586-2842.
