Authorities probe St. David 'acid bomb' incident

St. David High School Principal Mark Goodman found a suspicious device that turned out to be an acid bomb at his home on Thursday.
Cochise County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Carol Capas said whoever left the device committed a felony and could be charged with misconduct with a weapon.
Capas said it appears to be more than just a prank, and those responsible could be facing between five and six years in prison.
According to the sheriff's report, Goodman notified police around 5 a.m. that a suspicious item was in his driveway. Goodman reported that the device was smoking in his driveway and he needed a deputy to respond.
"The St. David Fire Department, along with Cochise County Sheriff's Office deputies, responded and closed the residential road pending arrival of the Cochise County Bomb Technician," Capas said. "The item was discovered to be an acid bomb that had already detonated. The St. David Fire Department diluted the device and the bomb technician disassembled it and removed it for disposal."
Capas said authorities are following up on leads, but would like the community's assistance. Anyone with information should call 1-800-362-0812.
