San Pedro Valley High School graduate Amy Logan was killed on Interstate 10 on Sunday night.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) said Logan, 17, was killed in a two-vehicle collision just south of Empirita Road west of Benson just before 9 p.m.
Eyewitness accounts said Logan was driving the wrong way on I-10 Sunday night when the head-on collision occurred.
Logan was driving a Chevrolet sedan east on westbound lanes of traffic. DPS said she crashed into a Jeep SUV occupied by Brittany Huber and Lance Hoff, both 19, according to news reports. Logan was pronounced dead at the scene.
Occupants in the Jeep were transported to Tucson hospitals, and DPS said the extent of their injuries had not yet been released.
Logan recently graduated from San Pedro Valley High School. School Principal Angela Grizzle said she was an excellent student.
"Amy Logan was an all-over wonderful student, and a very good person," Grizzle said. "She was good friends with almost all of the students, and she will be sorely missed."
Grizzle said Logan was on the honor roll all year, and was the only student to make the superintendent's honor roll list from the graduating class. Logan was one of two students in the 2009 class to have perfect attendance, and was the school's January Student of the Month.

" Any indication as to why or how she ended up on the wrong side of I-10? It's not that easy to get turned around on that stretch of road.
My condolences to the family. "

" The family has my sincerest condolences and prayers.
Although I agree that there should be a higher age before someone's allowed to drive, there are adults who cause accidents driving on the wrong side of the road. I was almost run over by an adult driving on the wrong side yesterday. They were smoking and appeared to be using a cell phone too. Definite accident waiting to happen. "

" A driver's liscense doesn't come with experience attached. The ability to drive a vehicle through a planned route doesn't give you the ability to deal with the hundreds of things that happen all at the same time while on the road... Stress this to all your young drivers...We lose to many to phones, radio's, CD players and other things that divert their total attention to DRIVING.... Condolences to the famiilies that are suffering.... "

Are there unclear or missing signs there? "

For the people making rude comments accidents happen, look at you. A young girl died that had so much going for her in life, its NOTHING to be rude about. "

Amy I love you! It's been so long since we really have even talked but you'll be in my heart, and so will your family. You were so young you didn't deserve to die and we will all see you up in heaven one day. (:
Love you Amy! "
