Forgot some aspects and others to thank

Published: Tuesday, August 4, 2009 8:35 PM CDT
I'm so sorry I forgot to mention some of the most important aspects of our time in Benson. Many years, Lee sponsored and coached Little League teams when our boys played and several years after. He also participated in softball, as did our boys. One year, we took Pony League kids to Sierra Vista twice a week to play. They were very good players age 12-15. Many of them played on the all-star team and all were very talented.

When our granddaughter was in high school, we took girls to Willcox to play in Bobby Sox League. Many of them played in California with the all-stars. It was a national tournament and they did real well. What a fun time we had and I found out how nice Willcox people were.

Possibly the most important thing we did was sponsor Miss Benson. Every year we had several lovely, intelligent, talented girls from Benson, St. David and Pomerene. With much help from Judy, Trudi, Glennis and others; that was a wonderful time in our lives. Participating in the Miss Arizona Pageant each year was so much fun. Our girls always did well there. It was a special night to go to Chandler, all dressed up and proud of our girls.

When I read my last letter in the paper, I was shocked to see what I had missed. I would be happy to know where the "pageant girls" are living now and what they are doing.

My best to all of our friends. It's nice to know how many of you really loved Lee and how much he is missed.
