During the month of August, Gallery of Dreams in St. David, will feature the work of Tombstone resident and photographer Winona Sharp.
Sharp calls her manipulated photography "attention getters" because of the bright colors and added dimensions.

Tournament upcoming

Action will begin at the San Pedro Golf Course in Benson on Sept. 12 and will continue on Sept. 13 at the Pueblo Del Sol course in Sierra Vista.

The two-day event costs $80 per person and will include cart and range balls.

AARP Driver Safety
Program setting schedule
The American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) is setting up its summer schedule for the AARP Driver Safety Program (formerly AARP55 Alive/Mature Driving) for the Willcox and Benson areas.
This course is designed for drivers 50 years of age or older, but anyone may attend, and covers all aspects of the effects of aging as it relates to driving and how to compensate for these changes.

Bible study to begin
A women's interdenominational Bible study will meet Wednesday mornings from 9 a.m. to 11:15 a.m., beginning Sept. 16, at First Baptist Church, 983 S. Ocotillo Ave. Child care available for children age 2-5.
The study is on the book of Daniel with Beth Moore.
Bible study for men and women will begin Monday, Sept. 14, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. There is no child care available during this study group. Classes for women and children will begin Wednesday, Sept. 16. Nursery available for babies, and preschool-age children 2 to 5, with monitored study room for home-schooled students.

The Cochise County Assessor reminds Cochise County residents of the approaching Sept. 1 application filing deadline for the Senior Property Valuation Freeze Option. This option allows the property valuation of a primary home to be frozen for a three year period, and may remain frozen as long as the homeowner re-qualifies every three years.
To qualify, the homeowner must be 65 years of age, must have lived in the home for a minimum of two years, and the home owners annual total income must be below $32,352 for a single owner or $40,440 if two or more owners.
The income is based on total income from all sources, taxable and non-taxable, and must include all owners on the property title.
Application must be made on the Department of Revenue form DOR 82104. These forms are available from the assessor's office and must be filed with the required documentation at the assessor's office by Tuesday, Sept. 1. Call the Cochise County Assessors Office at (520) 432-8650 for information.
Middle San Pedro data presentations scheduled
USGS will tag team with Dr. Chris Eastoe, U of A GeoChem Lab for two presentations on recent data collected in the Middle San Pedro Area.
Kimberly Beisner, hydrologist, will provide information on USGS work related to water levels, water samples, and the geology of the basin.
Chris Eastoe, U of A Geochem Lab, will be presenting results of an 18-month study that describes groundwater ages and whether/where significant recent recharge to the aquifer has taken place. The carbon-14 data and additional water chemistry data help us better understand the sources of water in our regional aquifer.

Sierra Vista Fiddle
Contest set for Sept. 19
Now in its fifth year, the Sierra Vista Fiddle Contest will provide a day of music and entertainment on Saturday, Sept. 19 at the Veterans Memorial Park bandshell, featuring fiddlers from throughout the Southwest compete for more than $3,000 in cash prizes. Admission is free.
