A 295-pound drug seizure near Benson Thursday, added to a busy month for the Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS).
With the latest seizure, at milepost 295 on Interstate 10 Thursday, DPS officers in Cochise County have seized more than 560 pounds of marijuana in August.
Authorities stopped the westbound 2008 Nissan pickup truck seven miles west of Benson at about 6:30 p.m. for making an unsafe lane change, according to a DPS news release. The driver bailed and fled on foot into the desert. It was at that time the 295 pounds of marijuana was located in the cab of the truck. The driver was not located, authorities said
