Pomerene PTO scholastic book fair continues through Aug. 28 at the Pomerene Post Office. The fair is open daily from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and open to the public.

A monthly Parkinson's disease support group meeting is held every fourth Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the St. Timothy Recreation Building at Holy Trinity Monastery in St. David.

VFW Post 6271, 233 E. 5th St., is hosting a fundraising dinner Friday, Aug. 28 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Menu includes Swiss steak, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetable, salad and roll.
Cost is a $6 donation to benefit VFW's color guard. For takeouts or more information, call 586-2197. Public welcome. Sunday bingo starts at 6 p.m. The kitchen for Sunday bingo is closed through Sept. 6.

Effective Sept. 2, Community Food Pantry of Benson will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The San Pedro River Arts Council, (formerly the Benson Arts Commission), is issuing a call to artists for works on paper only, with a western theme, to be hung in the City Hall Gallery in Benson. Action begins at San Pedro Golf Course in Benson on Sept. 12 and will continue Sept. 13 at Pueblo Del Sol in Sierra Vista.
Handicap required and proof of Cochise County residency or military proof required at registration.
The two-day event costs $80 per person and includes cart and range balls.
Tournament proceeds benefit All the Kings Horses Children's Ranch in Benson, which provides a home for abused and neglected kids. Coordinators are also looking for sponsors of the event. For information call Terry Celentano at 586-7314.

Books in the sale room of Benson Public Library will cost half of the posted price during the month of August. For example, a hardback book usually priced 50 cents is 25 cents.
The sale features magazines, audios, CDs, DVDs and records. The library is located at 300 S. Huachuca St.

Bible study for men and women will begin Monday, Sept. 14, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. There is no child care available during this study group. Classes for women and children will begin Wednesday, Sept. 16. Nursery available for babies, and preschool-age children 2 to 5, with monitored study room for home-schooled students.

Easy level round dancing is coming to Benson: Lessons are being offered on Sunday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Cochise Terrace RV Resort, one mile south of exit 302 off I-10 on Route 90 in Benson on the west side of the highway.
