Alysha Pirtle is San Pedro Valley High School's September Student of the Month. Pirtle started at SPVHS this school year and the junior is on track to graduate a year early (May 2010). "Alysha is the epitome of the model student; she is purposeful and focused in her studies, and is able to work independently and without distracting others," said Principal Angela Grizzle. "She is ahead in her coursework, having already earned 1.5 credits since the school year started. Alysha is always polite and cooperative with the staff and other students. Whether Alysha realizes it or not, she motivates and encourages others to work hard and stay on track because of the example she sets."

As Student of the Month, Alysha will be recognized at the SPVHS graduation ceremony in December with a plaque. In addition, her name will remain on the 2009-2010 SY Student of the Month perpetual plaque that hangs in the school's front office.

" I am so proud of Alysha her parents must be very proud of her. I don't know her at all but I have a 17 year old with a baby at my home. She has been very rebellious but having this baby has kept her out of trouble. I don't know what has motivated Alysha to be an extraordinary person and very diligent to her education, but I hope that she accomplishes her endeavors because she deserves it. You go girl! "
