The successful third annual Gathering of Artists and Friends, sponsored by the San Pedro River Arts Council (formerly the Benson Arts Commission) and the Gallery of Dreams, was held at the Gallery of Dreams in St. David on Saturday, Oct. 24.
Twelve artists showed their work at this unjuried show. The artists set up tents or tables early and showed off their paintings, drawings, sculpture and crafts to an appreciative audience. Work was sold, and the artists got a chance to meet one another. The Gallery was open as well, and professional artists are well represented there. The prepared food was provided by the St. David High School Culinary Arts class, under the direction of Jean Gregory. Music was provided by the "Contra Swings" duo.
A silent auction was held and proceeds from the artists' items sold went to the nonprofit San Pedro River Arts Council, as did the $10 basic memberships that were sold.
Each artist who participated received a year's membership in the San Pedro River Arts Council. A membership in the Arts Council provides the member with a monthly newsletter, and an attractive sticker for his or her car window.
Everyone who attended said that the event was a "class act."
