Seeking 'stray Elks' for local membership
Benson Elks Lodge is looking for members of the Elks organization who belong to a lodge other than Benson, but reside in the Benson area. Stray Elks are welcome to transfer to the Benson Lodge and become affiliated locally.
November is Veterans Appreciation Month. The Benson Elks Lodge No. 2853 in accordance with the Proclamation made by the Grand Exalted Ruler, intend to honor more than 500 veterans with a Christmas party, sponsored by the Arizona Elks Association.
The lodge is collecting items to distribute to the veterans housed at the Tucson veterans hospital and other off-site care-facilities in the area.
Items like socks, slippers, stationery and stamps, books, robes, blankets and personal items will be collected until Dec. 8 at the Elks/Masonic Lodge, 623 Foothill Dr., in Benson.
Presents will distributed at Christmas party for the veterans on Dec. 18.
