Sheriff's Office deputy involved in collision

There were no life-threatening injuries in a three-car collision on State Route 80 Monday that involved a Cochise County sheriff's deputy.
While the sheriff's office, along with the Department of Public Safety were on scene, the incident is being investigated by the Benson Police Department.
Police Chief Paul Moncada said two people, including the sheriff's deputy, were transported to Benson Hospital and treated for injuries sustained in the 10:56 a.m. crash that occurred at milepost 296.
Moncada said the deputy, whose name he did not release, was traveling westbound when she rear-ended a 1999 half-ton pickup truck stopped in the westbound lane to make a left turn, sending it into the eastbound lane and into the path of an oncoming 2003 Ford pickup truck.
Moncada said none of the passengers appeared to have sustained life-threatening injuries, noting the deputy was transported to the Benson Hospital, along with a Pomerene woman who was taken by ambulance with arm, rib and possible hip injuries.
Moncada said the incident is still under investigation.
