Community Christmas

Celebration rehearsals

Rehearsals for the annual San Pedro Valley Interdenominational Community Christmas Celebration began Sunday, Nov. 8 at 6 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Pomerene Road and will continue each Sunday except Thanksgiving weekend.

The performance will be held Sunday, Dec. 13 at 7 p.m. The public is welcome. For additional information contact Robin Fenn at 586-4344.


VFW fundraising

dinner Friday

VFW Post 6271, 233 E. 5th St., is hosting its fundraising dinner on Friday, Nov. 20 at Post Hall, 233 E. 5th St. Menu includes chicken-fried steak, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetable, salad and roll.

Cost is $6 donation. For takeouts or more information, call 586-2197. Public welcome. Sunday bingo at 6 p.m., kitchen opens one hour prior.

Frontier Fitness offers

free service Nov. 18

Frontier Fitness, 500 S. Hwy. 80, is offering a special service to the public Wednesday (today), Nov. 18 from noon to 6 p.m.

Visitors can learn their body- fat percentage, blood-oxygen level and skin-carotenoid score by use of the Pharmanex biophotonic scanner that measures antioxidants in a non-invasive manner. Thursday night bingo

at Cochise Terrace

Thursday night bingo is held at Cochise Terrace RV Resort in Benson. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with early bird game at 6 p.m. Games at 6:30 p.m. Kitchen opens at 5:20 p.m. Call 586-0600.

Benson Elks hold

Italian fare dinner

The Benson Elks are now serving Italian. Different pasta dishes will be served at the Masonic/Elks Lodge, 623 Foothill Dr., from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. each Tuesday. Craft fair, community

garage sale at San Pedro RV

A craft fair and community wide garage sale will be held Saturday, Nov. 21, 8 a.m. to noon at San Pedro RV Community, 111 S. Hwy. 80.

Museum/Quilt Gallery open house Sat., Nov. 28

Benson Museum and Quilt Gallery is holding open house Saturday, Nov. 28, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., in celebration of the quilting gallery's second anniversary. Yarn has been included for knitting and crochet. Handmade gifts available in the museum gift shop.

Museum hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. Closed Sunday and Monday.

Fraternal Order of Eagles activities scheduled

There's plenty happening at the Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 3593 Aerie, 750 E. 4th St.

Monday and Thursday, slingo at 4:30 p.m.; Wednesday bingo, card sales begin at 5:30 p.m., kitchen opens at 5 p.m.; Sunday NFL, noon. The social room is open at 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday and at noon on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Thanksgiving Fiesta

Singing Wind Bookshop's 35th anniversary Thanksgiving Fiesta, Nov. 22, 1 p.m., features authors Caleb Bach, Elizabeth Lewis, Jinx Pyle, Dianne Beeaff, Mary Ellen Barnes, Gary Every, Martha Egan, and Debe Branning. Music by Santa Cruz River Band.

Bingo Monday

at Senior Center

Bingo games are held every Monday at the Benson Senior/Community Center. Card sales from 12:20 p.m. to 12:55 p.m. Each card price of $1.50 includes 12 regular games and the progressive cover-all. Must be at least 18 to play. The center is located at 705 W. Union St., by the city pool.

Interdenominational

Bible study to begin

A women's interdenominational Bible study will meet Wednesday mornings from 9 a.m. to 11:15 a.m., at First Baptist Church, 983 S. Ocotillo Ave. Study is on the book of Daniel with Beth Moore. Bible study for men and women on Mondays from 6:30 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. Call 586-3362 or 720-4537 or 221-0129 for child care information and other details.

Willow Lakes

women's Bible study

Willow Lakes women's non-denominational Bible study will be held weekly on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the clubhouse, 2125 W. Vista Dr. The 12-week study session is on Jesus' mother Mary.

Bible class at Bethlehem Orthodox Lutheran

Vicar Jonathan Loescher will be leading a Bible class entitled "Pointing to the Cross."

The 10-week class is under way. Anyone may join at any time. Bethlehem Orthodox Lutheran Church is located south of Union on Duane and High streets by the cemetery.

Arts Council seeks

photos, artwork

The San Pedro River Arts Council is issuing a call to artists for unframed works on paper, or photographs for a show in the City Hall Gallery in Benson. Show title is "The Doors of Cochise County." Deadline for entries is Nov. 27. The work is scheduled to be hung on Dec. 2, and will remain up for two months. There is no entry fee. Critter Sitters dog

obedience classes set

Critter Sitters will cover agility on Saturday, Dec. 5 at 8 a.m. Jumps, tunnels, dog walk and more will be covered in the six- week class. Also basic obedience will be covered at 9:30 a.m. Sit, down, come, and more. For more information contact Megan at 520-212-2233.

Rotary Turkey Shoot

Benson Rotary Turkey Shoot golf tournament will be held Nov. 21 at Turquoise Hills Golf & RV in Benson. Cost is $45 per player and includes frozen turkey, green fees, cart, lunch and goodie bag. H1N1 vaccination clinic

Thursday Nov. 19 at BHS

The Cochise County Health Department is announcing the continuation of its H1N1 vaccination clinics of this flu season.

The next series of clinics will only accept patients in the Tier 1 Priority Group and healthy children aged 5 through 18 at Benson High School (cafeteria), 360 S. Patagonia St., Thursday, Nov. 19 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Cascabel Christmas Fair upcoming Dec. 5-6

The 29th Annual Cascabel Community Fair will be held Saturday, Dec. 5 and Sunday, Dec. 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There are three very different sites all within pleasant walking distance. The Oasis Bird Sanctuary Sanctuary conducts scheduled tours of their exotic birds and sells products that support animal rescue efforts. Akasha Center of Light offers original paintings and unique Christmas decorations by the resident artist. Cascabel Clayworks will have an open house and studio pottery sale. Joining them will be many other artisans displaying their work in fiber, wood, jewelry, clay, leather, photography and more. Also visit Forever Home Donkey Rescue.

Grace Chapel presents 'Between Heartbeats'

"Between Heartbeats," a dramatic presentation from the life of the "Apostle Jesus Loved," will be hosted by Grace Chapel on Sunday, Nov. 22, at 10 a.m. and is open to the public.

This is presented by David Turner, who has performed "Between Heartbeats" in Kingman, Safford, several churches in Tucson and now in Benson. Grace Chapel is located at 1050 S. Post Rd.
