For the first time in the history of the southeastern Arizona Academic Team competition (24 years), both the Benson A and B teams took first place in a conference competition last month at the Safford High School's 22nd Annual Safford Knowledge Bowl.

"Both teams have been doing exceptionally well this year," Benson High School Academic Team Coach Linda Lou Lamb said. "For both teams to win was great! I don't know who was more excited about the double victory, our teams or me."

The academic teams are competing today (Dec. 2) at the Bisbee Academic Challenge. They also competed in the Knowledge Master Open (KMO), a computerized meet against over 1,000 schools from around the world on Tuesday, Dec. 1, but those results were not available at press time.
