Cecil and Sylvia Richardson

Married on Dec. 22, 1959, in Mesa. Cecil and Sylvia moved to Benson in 1967 and have spent 42 years raising their family and serving in the community they love. Cecil sang with the Benson Barbershoppers for 20 years, from its beginning with Jim Fox in the late 1970s, served as bishop of Benson Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for five years from 1990 to 1995, belonged to the Benson Rotary Club for 20 years and served as president for one year.

Sylvia served on the Board of Trustees for Benson Elementary School District for seven years, from 1985 to 1992, and served on the steering committee, which was successful in bringing Quiburi Mission Samaritan Center to Benson.

They have owned and operated Benson Mortuary, now Richardson's Remembrance Center, for 30 years, and have served most of the families in this area during that time. Ten children, 43 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren now call them Grandma and Grandpa.
