A 48-year-old Benson man was killed Friday, the victim of a wrong-way collision on Interstate 10.
Arizona Dept. of Public Safety spokesman Quentin Mehr identified the victim as Jesus Haro. Mehr said Haro's 2007 Toyota passenger vehicle was struck at approximately milepost 293 west of Benson by a 2009 Chevrolet Suburban headed eastbound in the westbound lanes. Haro, a lifelong Benson resident, who was active in the community, was dead at the scene from injuries of the 3:50 a.m. crash, said Mehr. He was not wearing a seatbelt, he said.
James Anderson, 61, of Palm Springs, Calif., was identified as the driver of the suburban. He was airlifted to a Tucson hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries. Anderson was wearing a seatbelt, said Mehr.
Services for Haro are Wednesday (Feb. 3) at 3 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
Authorities said Monday there were no further details available as investigation continues.
