Benson FBLA embarks upon a 'green' project
Benson High School Future Business Leaders of America is once again sponsoring our annual community service project by spreading the word "Go Green" to others about all the recycling facilities we have access to here locally. As you may know, the Benson Transfer Station recently started up a recycling program, but there are still many members throughout this community who do not know about it and other recycling opportunities there are locally.
Most people know that Safeway and Wal-Mart recycle plastic bags, but even I did not know of some of the recycling opportunities available here in our community. For instance, Postal Annex recycles styrofoam peanuts, bubble wrap, clean boxes, air packs, computer and printer parts. Radio Shack recycles cell phones, cell phone batteries, and regular batteries, and the City Hall Finance Department/Library Center/Chamber of Commerce recycle old phone books.
In our FBLA chapter one of our key roles is service and why not do our service by giving back to our community? We thought why not spread the word of all these great new recycling opportunities? We decided to create door hangers with recycling information and we plan to go door to door to give these out to all the people in our community.
We believe this is a great project and are excited to spread the word of where these recycling facilities are in our community.
