Melvin J. Wolfel of Benson, completed his journey on this earth April 22, 2010. Melvin was born on Sept. 19, 1930 in St. Mary's, Pa.
Melvin married the love of his life, Jane Marie, on Nov. 11, 1951, and celebrated their 58th anniversary last year.
Their marriage was blessed with two sons, Dave and Steve and three daughters, Linda, Kay and Kathy.
In 1965, Melvin moved his family to South Burlington, Vt. for a job at IBM as a tool and die maker. Melvin was also a volunteer fireman in South Burlington for many years. The family remained in Vermont until 1980, at which time Melvin and Jane moved to Arizona. Melvin was with IBM for 24 years and was the tool room manager.
Melvin loved the outdoors; he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He passed this passion on to his children and grandchildren.
Melvin was very active in the Catholic Church as Lector, usher and maintenance person for many years.
Melvin also leaves behind his brother Joseph, but will now be with his parents, two sisters and two brothers.
Our lives were so blessed by having him in them. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be at Our Lady of Lourdes in Benson on Saturday, May 1, at 11 a.m. Burial will be at a later date.
