After being charged with 12 felony counts involving sexual conduct with and sexual molestation of a minor, 20-year-old Marshall Brown of Benson accepted a plea agreement with the Cochise County Attorney's office that will land him behind bars for 14 years.
According to the Benson Police report, Brown was able to use texting and other methods of social networking online to seduce young teenage girls into having sex.
One case where Brown was investigated in Pima County involved an 11-year-old girl, while cases investigated by Detective Brian Williams in Benson included girls ranging in age between 13 and 17.
The 17-year-old victim, who now lives in Tucson, did not cooperate with the police investigation, but the parents of the 13- and 14-year-old teenagers have pressed charges.
Justice of the Peace Joe Knoblock set a $1 million bond for Brown on May 24, after he was charged with two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, five counts of sexual conduct with a minor and five counts of molestation of a child.
Brown took the plea agreement offered by the county attorney's office last week. Benson Police Chief Paul Moncada said he will serve the entire 14-year sentence and will be required to register as a sex offender once released.
In early May, Williams took Brown into custody at the San Pedro Terrace Apartments in east Benson on another case.
At that time, the police confiscated Brown's Blackberry cellular phone.
"I advised Marshall I would be seizing his phone as I would be attempting to execute a search warrant on the phone due to my knowledge that Marshall may have been utilizing it to contact and/or text victims referenced in the previously mentioned case," Williams said in the 17-page report. "After explaining this to Marshall, he appeared extremely nervous that I would be searching his phone and asked again if he could just leave it behind. This request was again denied."
After receiving permission from Knoblock to search the phone's contents, Williams said he found videos with "disturbing footage of a male subject engaged in sexual intercourse with a young appearing unidentified female."
Williams said he recognized the male in the video as Brown, due to tattoos he had photographed when Brown was taken into custody.
Through work with the local school district, Williams was able to identify the female in the video as a local 14-year-old.
Williams said the girl's parents agreed to press charges against Brown.
Through questioning the parents and the victim, Williams was able to establish that the girl had allegedly had sex with Brown at her home, and several times at his apartment on Pearl Street.
On nights the girl met Brown at his apartment, the report states she told her parents she was spending the night with a friend. One night, after her parents were sleeping, the girl let Brown into her bedroom where they allegedly had sex.
After viewing the videos in the phone, Williams said he searched saved text messages on Brown's phone.
Williams allegedly found several nude photos of young girls on the phone.
Many of the texts were of Brown writing various teenagers, stating his love for them, and exchanging sexual content.
"The messages include texts from numerous persons, male and female," the police report states. "I noted many of the text messages indicate that Marshall Brown was engaged in sexual relationships with a number of different persons, both male and female."
Besides engaging in discussions and contact with teenage girls, Brown also is suspected of prostitution.
Brown allegedly took money from a local high school male student in exchange for oral and anal sex.
The student has now been charged with prostitution and soliciting, and Williams submitted the paperwork to the county attorney last week, to charge Brown with prostitution.
On May 12, Williams received approval from Knoblock to search Brown's apartment, but upon entering found that his family had moved everything out the day before.
Williams contacted Brown's family members to search through his belongings, and found out from his uncle that the 20-year-old had similar accusations against him in Pima County.
In contacting Pima County, Williams discovered that Brown had been accused of sexual misconduct with an 11-year-old girl. The incident was discovered when the girl's mother found texts on her cell phone.
Brown was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor due to a lack of evidence. He was sentenced to three years' probation.

" This is very sad. What is *wrong* with these men? I am thankful that he was caught. Still, when he gets out, he'll be back at it again. They never change. It must be a sickness... "

" I would like to believe the facts presented by this newspaper, but it is clear that all things reported by this newspaper are not fact. One of those fallacies includes the so call facts reported in the article concerning Stephanie Daley in Pomerene, Az. Anyone with half a brain would know that she was innocent of the charges and that she was released because of her innocent by recommendation of the arresting detective... "

" Hmmm....arrested because she was innocent....??? Facinating....Hey Anonymous....you know the documents the newspaper reports on...they are a matter of public record. Why don't you look them up for yourself and you'll see how "INNOCENT" Daley is... and then use the other half of your brain to distinguish the facts from whatever world you live in. This article was also written using documents available to the public, which you can refer to as well to consider the facts. When you're done reading them, consider why Brown pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 14 years in prison....probably had something to do with GUILT.!!?? "
