Man, 37, killed after 1-vehicle crash
A 37-year old man died Thursday morning following a one-vehicle crash on Sybil Road north of Interstate 10, the Cochise County Sheriff's Office reported.
Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Carol Capas said that at approximately 1:30 a.m. the Sheriff's Office was advised of the accident. She said deputies responded to the scene along with Health Care Innovations medics and located a 1987 Ford F-150 truck with the male occupant inside.
The initial investigation reveals that the vehicle was traveling westbound on the Frontage Road on Sibyl Road when he failed to turn with the roadway then went head on into a wash embankment. Capas said the vehicle stopped upright on the west side of the small wash and had total crush damage to all sides of the vehicle. The driver suffered fatal injuries as a result of the collision and was believed to be deceased on impact. "It is unknown why the driver did not negotiate the turn in the roadway," said Capas via a department news release.
The investigation is being continued by the Sheriff's Office. As of press time Tuesday, the victim's identity had not yet been released.
