A traffic stop Wednesday resulted in seizure of nearly five ounces of methamphetamine and the arrest of a Huachuca City woman.
Kathryn Merrill, 44, is charged with drug related counts following the “early morning” incident, the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Merrill has been booked on charges of possession of a dangerous drug, transportation of a dangerous drugs, transportation of dangerous drugs for sale and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.
The SO’s Street Crimes Unit conducted the “civil traffic violation” stop in the 800 block of N. Ocotillo Road of the vehicle driven by Merrill, CCSO spokeswoman Carol Capas said via the news release.
“During the traffic stop, a Sheriff’s Office canine checked the exterior of the vehicle and alerted to the odor of narcotics. A search of the vehicle was conducted and approximately five ounces (three eights of a pound) of Methamphetamine concealed with-in a natural void of the vehicle was located,” states the news release.
Merrill was in custody in Cochise County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bond. Investigation continues, authorities said.
