USMC Detachment, Legion Riders’ breakfast
The Marine Corps Detachment and Legion Riders hold their monthly breakfast on the first Saturday monthly, Dec. 1, 8 to 10 a.m., serving biscuits and gravy, eggs, sausage, coffee or juice. Cost is a $6 donation.
St. Raphael in the Valley rummage sale
St. Raphael in the Valley is holding a rummage sale Friday, Nov. 10 and Saturday, Nov. 10, at the church, 730 S. Hwy. 80, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. Proceeds benefit local charities.
Tolling the Bells of Peace
Join the Vicente Manzo Benson American Legion Post 45 in “Tolling the Bells of Peace” at the upcoming Veterans Day observance Saturday, Nov. 10 in Benson. The bell will be rung 21 times in honor of the 4 million Americans who served and those who died in WW I.
Thriving on Plants
The next “Thriving on Plants” monthly meeting will be held Tuesday, Nov. 13, featuring the chief clinical dietician at Canyon Vista Medical Center who will present “Reading food labels and what the numbers mean.” Call Dee at (520) 224-4081 for additional information and directions.

Operation Christmas Child
Start with an average-sized cardboard or plastic shoebox. OCC provides shoeboxes for its annual collection campaign. Select either girl or a boy. Age categories are 2-4, 5-9 or 10-14. Fill boxes with age appropriate items from the following list of suggestions: Toys - small doll, yo-yos, jump ropes, toy cars, balls etc. School Supplies - pens, pencils, colored pencils, sharpeners, crayons, notebooks, paper, solar calculators, coloring books, etc. Non-liquid hygiene products - toothbrushes, bar soap, combs, washcloths, etc. Accessories - T-shirts, socks, hats, sunglasses, hair clips, jewelry, watches, flashlights with extra batteries, etc. Do not include: used or damaged items, such war-themed items as toy guns, knives or military figures, chocolate or food, out-of-date candy, liquids or lotions, medications or vitamins, breakable items or aerosol cans.

Fall Festival for Senior Meals
Helping Hands @ Cochise Terrace is hosting a Fall Festival on Nov. 24 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Cochise Terrace RV Resort to benefit the Northern Cochise County Senior Meals program.
The festival features a variety of vendors offering unique, handmade items for that special gift. A bake sale will satisfy the sweetest tooth and chili or soup will be available to purchase for lunch. The festival will take part in the The Barn at the resort, one mile south of the Interstate 10-SR-90 junction.
Book, bake sale Dec. 1
Friends of the Benson Library Bookstore will be holding a Book and Bake Sale on Saturday, Dec. 1, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
This special event will feature a sale on all regularly priced books – fill a plastic grocery bag with books for just $2. Additionally tasty homemade baked goods will be available for purchase. All proceeds benefit the Benson Public Library.
