COCHISE COUNTY – Every year, the Chiricahua Cares Fund, a patient assistance fund for Chiricahua Community Health Centers, helps hundreds of patients in need. A generous $1,500 donation from Benson Hospital will ensure that more patients can have access to services that may have been previously financially impossible.
Vice President of Community Benefit for Tucson Medical Center, Julia Strange said, “Chiricahua Community Health Centers in Benson, and across Cochise County, take care of the most vulnerable in our communities. We share in the mission to provide access to quality healthcare to all in our community. Benson Hospital contributed to the Chiricahua Cares fund because those dollars will be used by clinic staff to remove barriers to health care, including transportation, medication co-pays and well woman checks. Together, Benson Hospital and Chiricahua provide a critical health care safety net for the people we serve.”
Dr. Jonathan Melk, CEO of Chiricahua Community Health Centers, said he is grateful for the close relationship Chiricahua has with Benson Hospital. “The leadership of Benson Hospital shares in common Chiricahua’s desire to serve all people regardless of ability to pay. We are proud to be their close partner.”
The Chiricahua Cares Fund operates solely on donations from the public. 100% of donations received go directly to remove barriers to care for patients in need. Clinic staff works with patients to cover costs associated with barriers such as transportation, specialist fees, medication co-pays, care for domestic violence victims, or well-woman services.
