Friends of the Benson Library
Book, bake sale
Saturday, Dec. 7

It’s time for one of the more popular fundraisers and one that seems to get ample support.
Friends of the Benson Library are holding the annual Book and Bake Sale on Saturday, Dec. 7, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Friends’ location, 197 E. 7th St.
The event typically draws a large turnout. All regularly priced books are on sale – or fill a plastic grocery bag with books for $2. And if the books don’t get you through the doors, the array of sweets should.
“Cookies, bars, brownies and little sweet breads would be ideal, whole pies and cakes are very popular and anything chocolate of course,” organizers said, in their appeal to the valley’s bakers.
And there are many. Baked items may be dropped off at the bookstore on Friday, Dec. 6, 10 a.m. — 3 p.m. or Saturday, Dec. 7 , 9 a.m. — 10 a.m.
The Friends can also use unwanted boxes or plastic grocery bags, which can be dropped off at the bookstore.
Proceeds benefit the Friends college scholarship program. The Friends are also looking to boost its membership.
