TEXAS CANYON — A motorist escaped serious injury Tuesday night following a vehicle fire on Interstate 10 east of Benson.
Emergency crews responded to Texas Canyon shortly before 9:30 p.m., following report of the car fire, authorities said.
“Initial reports were that a passenger car that was fully engulfed off right in the shoulder,” said State Trooper Jonathan Montes of the Arizona Department of Public Safety’s public information office.
Exact cause of the fire was not immediately known, said Montes, noting the driver was able to safely exit the eastbound 2004 Honda Civic. There were no injuries.
The right lane of the interstate at milepost 319 was blocked while firefighters extinguished the fire then reopened shortly after, DPS said.
