Deborah “Debbie” Jean Figueroa Thompson

Oct. 12, 2019

Deborah Jean Thompson was born on February 11, 1956 and left this earthly life on October 12, 2019.

Debbie was born in Deming New Mexico and moved to Benson when she was 6 weeks old, where she attended all of her school years and was a proud Benson Bobcat. Debbie enjoyed supporting the Bobcats throughout her life.

Debbie’s best days were spent with her family where laughs and love were always present. She leaves behind her mother, Joyce Thompson; two sisters Linda Smith and Cheryl Tyra; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Bev Thompson and more nieces and nephews than one can count.

Debbie’s pride and joy were her daughters and their husbands: Shannon and Mike Sherman and Shelley and Gary Weber. However, the light of her life came through her 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Shannon and Mike have five daughters: Katie, Kayla, Karlee, Collecia and Jessica Sherman. Shelley and Gary have seven daughters and one son: Destinee Murzyn, Brianna Rabourn, Hannah Powell, Amelia Powell, Morgan Weber, Sadie Weber, Shana Weber, and Rhett Weber. Destinee married Mike Murzyn and they have 3 children: Miguel, Aria, and Bradyn.

Debbie was welcomed back to Heaven by her loving Daddy, Tommy Thompson, her sister, Betty Teague, and numerous grandparents, aunts, uncles and one very special niece, Chelsea, that she was so excited to see.

Debbie’s family is so grateful for the love and kindness that has been shown to them through these past months. Although it can never be repaid, it will be paid forward. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you do as Debbie would have done- find someone in need and spread some goodness.

Services will be Saturday, Oct. 19 at 3 p.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 381 Pomerene Rd., Benson, AZ 85602. Following the funeral, please stay and help us celebrate her beautiful life with stories and a slide show. As Mom would say “bring your smiles- but leave your tears at home!”
