Kazuko N. ‘Kay’ Swift

Kazuko N. Swift (Kay) accepted her permanent change of station on Saturday July 27, 2019. A resident of Benson for two decades. Was a member of Benson First Assembly of God, Marine Corps League and American Legion Post 45 Auxiliary.

Born May 17, 1935 in Saipan Marianna Islands, Trust Territory of the Pacific. She and her family survived war in a cave as both Japanese and American POW. Later the family was transported to Okinawa, their home country.

In 1958, Kay was introduced by her cousin to Donald Swift, a Marine. After dating, introduction to parents, obtaining all required documents, they were married at the American Consulate, Naha, Okinawa on 26 February 1959. Kay is survived by her husband Don, three sons, Dennis J., Craig A., and Bruce E., and stepson William R., nine grandchildren and 11 great- grandchildren. Friends called her “Special K.”

Interment at Southern Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Sierra Vista, Ariz., on the 29th of August at 11 a.m.

Celebration of Life to be scheduled later.
