Benson is an amalgam of numerous cultures and nationalities. Butterfield Stagecoach Days not only celebrates the mail and passenger service than ran through here for only three years, but also the diverse groups who make Benson what it is today.

The Chamber of Commerce would like to thank all who worked before and behind the scenes to make our historical depiction possible. The City of Benson, our Title Sponsor (Stagecoach Handler), stepped forward with a significant grant that permitted wide-spread announcements. Our Silver 6-Shooters, sponsors San Pedro Valley Sun-News, published several advertisements, and Walmart, decorated our English Garden photo gallery.

The photo opportunity props and photographs depicting days gone by, plus numerous hardworking volunteers, came from the Benson Historical Museum and the Western Heritage Cultural Society.

Funds from Bronze Spur sponsors Long Realty, Motor Vehicle Processing (MVP), Ancient Echoes Entertainment, Sulphur Springs Valley Electric Coop and Word Crafters Writing Group made it possible to have the very popular horse-drawn carriage tour of several of the murals and historic residences in our town. Bronze Spur sponsor Arizona G&T Cooperatives printed the event posters distributed throughout the area.

Entertainment for the young attendees was provided by “pardnership” with the Arizona Army National Guard, Hangman Tattoos and Piercings, and Arizona Geology For Kids. Also available for the kids was the Tucson Garden Railway Society’s miniature railroad; several old engines and equipment on display courtesy of Power From the Past; the captivating narrative on steam engines presented by author William Kalt III; and the astounding tales told by the Buffalo Soldier at his camp.

More “pardners” include: Apache Powder Nitrogen Products, displaying the artifacts and history of dynamite production with the help of Glen Stalcup of Stalcup Tours; Sarge’s Sidearms, who lent a pistol and holster to a historical actor ; antique display cases from Zearing’s; the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), who supplied the folding chairs; BK Cacti, who assisted with setup and trailering displays plus worked wherever needed; Ancient Echoes Entertainment, who supplied the sound system; Tombstone Now, who brought canopies; and together these two provided our overnight security.

To all who attended, we thank you and hope to see you at Christmas OFF Main on December 7th!
