St. David — Make that 14-0 for the Tigers, who topped Valley Union and Tombstone in straight sets on the volleyball court.
The Tigers now prepare for the Gopher Get Down tournament in Florence on Friday and Saturday, and coach Tylene Miller and crew expect to be up to the task.
“...We’re going to the Florence Tournament this weekend; I am looking forward to it,” the coach said. “I expect a lot from these girls.”
St. David resumes league play Monday at Patagonia, Tuesday at Academy of Tucson and Thursday at Bowie/San Simon and close the regular season Friday at home against Miami. Each game is set for a 5 p.m. start time.
Against Tombstone on Friday, Kyra Richardson was a perfect 22 of 22 on serve points with six aces and Kyla Trejo and Goldi Merrill posted 13 of 13 efforts. Kayla Judd had eight kills, Sydney Klump seven and Megan Merrill six kills to lead St. David with Kyla Trejo recording 28 assists. Defensively Brylee Murray had 34 digs with Trejo adding 15 serve receives and Klump 14. Klump also had 25 digs.
Against Valley Union on Thursday Murray recorded six aces in a 23 of 25 showing from the service line with 23 digs on nine serve receives to help pace the Tigers defensively. Trejo added an 18 for 19 game with two aces to go with Kyra Richardson’s 17 of 17 showing. Trejo set the table for the hitters with 40 assists with Klump leading the hitting attack with 13 kills with Judd recording nine.
