SAN PEDRO VALLEY — With area high school fall sports teams mired into their respective schedules, ample opportunity exists to support the home team — whichever one that is.
The Benson Bobcats spikers, after just having hosted Pima Tuesday in a conference matchup, look ahead to a week of road games. The Bobcats return to the friendly confines of James Driggers Gymnasium Sept. 26 when they host Willcox in a 6 p.m. game.
The upcoming away games, however, are close to home, in Bisbee Thursday for a 6 p.m. game, at St. David Sept. 24 for a 5 p.m. game, and at Tombstone the following day in a 6 p.m. game.
The Bobcats have hit the court strong out of the gate standing unbeaten at 4-0 going into play this week.
The 1A Tigers are quietly putting another strong volleyball season, standing 5-0 going into action this week. Just off a 3-0 triumph over Anthem Prep, St. David hosts Baboquivari on Friday and Benson Sept. 24. Each game starts at 5 p.m. The Tigers hosted Immaculate Heart on Tuesday but that game was held after press time.
The Bobcats’ soccer team hosts Academy of Tucson Wednesday at 4 p.m. at the Jerry P. Lee Athletics Complex and are at Patagonia on Sept. 23 in a 6 p.m. game.
The Benson cross-country teams are running in the Bisbee Invitational Wednesday at 2 p.m. and are competing in the Camp Verde Invitational on Saturday at 8:30 a.m., followed by the Sept. 24 Willcox Invitational.
