Kyle Baker – Benson High School Baseball
Kyle Baker, a senior at Benson High School, is a four-year member of the Bobcats’ baseball team and this years’ varsity captain.
Competing for the Bobcats as a pitcher, at third base and as a shortstop, Kyle will be continuing his athletic talents following high school graduation as he goes on to play baseball at Central Lakes College in Brainerd, Minnesota. He will be working on a degree in physical therapy.
Kyle took several baseball awards, including All Region 2nd team his freshman year, and All Region 1st team and All-State 2nd team his sophomore and junior years. He also competed in the Southern Arizona All-Stars his sophomore and junior years. He will take away many memories from high school and his time on the Bobcats’ baseball team, including turning double plays with his teammate Mason Fletcher.
In addition to competing for the Bobcats in baseball, Kyle also was a member of the school’s FBLA, FCCLA, and the LINK Crew. In his free time, he enjoys not only playing baseball but hiking, hunting, fishing, and camping. He has also volunteered with the Benson Little League and the Benson Middle School baseball teams as an umpire.
Kyle is the son of Sacha and Clint Wilharm.
Dalia Moroyoqui – Benson High School track & field
Dalia Moroyoqui, a senior at Benson High School, has enjoyed her four years of Bobcats’ track & field as a distance runner and pole vaulter. She also competed on the ‘cats cross country team, making the state playoffs her freshman, junior, and senior years.
Competing in cross country also helped Dalia with her track & field distance events – the 800, 1600, and 3200. She also competed as a member of the 4x400 team and in the pole vault. She made the 2A state championships her sophomore year in the pole vault and her junior year in the pole vault and the 3200. She will always remember going to all the cross country and track & field meets but most of all competing in the state championships.
Dalia is an active member of several school and community organizations – the FBLA (vice president of community service her junior year), the Book Club, the International Club, the NHS, SkillsUSA (historian her freshman year), the Benson Youth Council (secretary/treasurer her senior year), and was the student council representative for her senior class.
An energetic volunteer, Dalia has helped with Benson Middle School track & field invitations, Red Cross Blood Drives, and the Benson Beautification community clean-up events. Her hobbies include drawing, painting, bike riding, and film making.
Following graduation, Dalia will be attending Arizona State University to major in Business Language and Culture while minoring in Mandarin.
Dalia is the daughter of Merisia Moroyoqui Lopez.
Nicholas Redmond – Benson High School Track & FieldNicholas Redmond is a senior member of the Benson High School track & field team, having competed for the ‘cats for four years. In addition to competing in track & field (110 hurdles, 300 hurdles, 4x100, 4x400), Nicholas was a 4-year member of the ‘cats football team, having competed as a free safety and running back.
Nicholas has competed at the state level in both track & field and football. His junior year he made the 2A state playoff in the 110 hurdles; he also competed in post-season competition all four years of his high school football career. His fondest athletic memories include winning the 4x400 at the Benson/Jerry Lee Invitational his junior year (as part of the 1st place boys’ team that won the invitational), and being given the game football his freshman year following the Benson/Willcox varsity football game.
Nicholas is a member of the NHS and has been on the Principal’s Honor Roll for four years. He also earned the ‘Bobcat Award’ for football his freshman, sophomore, and senior years.
In addition to athletics and school activities, Nicholas volunteered with his high school track & field teammates at all Benson Middle School Track & Field Invitationals, and has helped with the San Pedro Valley Little League and Benson Youth Football. His hobbies include weight lifting, sports, and hiking.
Following graduation, he will be attending Cochise College for his Associates Degree then to Arizona State University to study biomedical engineering.
Nicholas is the son of Mark and Lorelei Redmond.
