BENSON — The annual American Legion Vicente Manzo Post 45 Al Reyes Memorial Golf Tournament is just around the corner.
Set for Feb. 22 at San Pedro Golf Course, proceeds raised through the event support scholarships and programs for high schools and middle schools in Benson, St. David and Pomerene.
With a 9 a.m. shotgun start, the tournament format is a four-man scramble and typically draws between 100 and 120 players.
“Cost is $50 per person, which includes a round of golf, a cart, meal and prizes,” said Ed Meza, the American Legion Post 45 commander. “We also have great raffle prizes every year.”
Benny Cardenes, who is in charge of the tee-box sponsorships, said there are still a few sponsorship opportunities left.
“The deadline to sign up for our tee-boxes is this Friday,” Cardenas said. “These are 11- by 17-inches in size and are a great way to advertise businesses and other organizations. Each one is $100 and we still have a few available.”
Meza said the tournament, which is always a lot of fun, is American Legion Post 45’s primary fundraiser.
“Because proceeds go toward our community’s schools and young people, this event brings golfers together for a good time, while supporting a good cause,” Meza said. “So come on out and join us for a day of golf on a beautiful course. The community looks forward to this tournament every year.”
