It’s on to the state Majors Little League softball tournament for our San Pedro All-Stars who claimed the District 8 championship.

Host San Pedro breezed through the tournament field unbeaten, defeating Bisbee 13-2 in the opener then Willcox twice, 16-1 in the next round, and 10-0 in Wednesday’s championship game.

In the championship game, Trinity Bullock kept the Willcox bats in check to record the win in the pitcher’s circle while the San Pedro hitters did the rest.

Celina Wilharm homered — a no-doubt solo shot in the left center power alley — in a 2-for-3 showing at the plate while Bullock helped her own cause in the circle posting the 3-for-3 effort. Tatum Benson and Ally Crouse each went 2 for 3.

In their tournament opener, Wilharm, Bullock and Crouse each recorded a pair of hits with Benson notching the win in the circle.

Wilharm got the win in the circle in San Pedro’s second-round game and their first tournament meeting with Willcox while posting San Pedro’s only multi-hit effort with a 2-for-2 showing at the plate. Karlee Sherman, Riley Francione, Grace Parke, Crouse, Bullock and Benson each recorded base knocks as well.

San Pedro will now represent District 8 in the state tournament in Flagstaff.
