Power game

Emily Darwin slammed this kill home in the Bobcats’ game at St. David.

BENSON — The Bobcats rebounded from the defeat at St. David with victories over Willcox and Tombstone.

The Bobcats topped Willcox in straight sets, 3-0, on Thursday, one day after Benson defeated Tombstone, 3-1.

The pair of wins improved the Bobcats to 7-2 overall, 3-1 in section play.

The Bobcats are in Thatcher on Thursday for a 6 p.m. encounter with the Eagles for the first of three straight road games. The Bobcats are in Morenci Oct. 8, at Pima on Oct. 10, and are home next on Oct. 15 when Benson entertains the Bisbee Pumas. All four games are region games and each is set for a 6 p.m. start time.

Despite the loss at St. David, coach Katie Maakestad was pleased by the effort.

“We started flat but we battled, especially in the last game,” said Maakestad.
