Jaylin Richardson fired a no-hitter Monday as St. David topped host Academy of Tucson, 15-0.

St. David continues its torrid run in 1A softball. The Tigers racked up 12 hits in the lopsided win.

Jaylin was also solid at the plate, turning in the 3-for-4 effort with four RBIs. Kyra Richardson had two hits to drive home a pair of runs and Megan Merrill went 2 for 4 with an RBI. Brylee Murray, Daisy Merrill, Lia Pacheco, Mackenzie Comaduran and Ashlee Romero each had a hit as well.

St. David jumped on the opposition for six first-inning runs and added four more in the second. Two runs in the third and three in the fifth brought a halt to the game after Academy of Tucson’s at bat in home half of the fifth.

On Thursday, 13 defensive blunders helped doom St. David in a 22-12 loss to 2A Thatcher.

Kyra Richardson went 4 for 4 with two RBIs and Jaylin Richardson drove in three runs in a 2-for-4 showing with Daisy Merrill, Megan Merrill, Comaduran and Romero recording hits.

Jaylin Richardson fanned seven in the circle and allowed six earned runs.

St. David scored five in the top of the first and led 6-3 after two innings. Thatcher, with four runs in the fourth, took the 7-6 lead before the Tigers added six fourth-inning runs.

But that’s when it all derailed for the Tigers. The Eagles scored 10 runs in the bottom of the fourth and scored five runs in the fifth.

St. David defeated rival Valley Union on Tuesday [March 26] by the 14-8 count.

Megan Merrill homered in a three-hit showing and Kyra Richardson had three hits to help lead the Tigers. Murray, Goldi Merrill and Comaduran had two hits each.

Jaylin Richardson went the distance in the circle to record the win.

The Tigers, 9-3 overall after Monday’s win, host Hayden on Wednesday in a 4 p.m. non-league game and travel to Bowie/San Simon Friday for a region game also at 4 p.m.
